The Plan for Chesterfield 2035
The Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County has directed that a New Comprehensive Plan for Chesterfield County be prepared. The New Plan will replace the county’s currently adopted comprehensive plan, The Plan for Chesterfield. The purpose of a comprehensive plan is to guide future growth and development decisions in the County. The Commonwealth of Virginia requires that every locality adopt a comprehensive plan for "guiding and accomplishing a coordinated, adjusted and harmonious development of the territory (State code 15.2-2223)".
The purpose of this website is to provide residents and stakeholders a comprehensive source of information about the many components of the Plan update. This website is just one way of providing information to, and obtaining input from, those who will be the ultimate recipient of the Plan as the county’s roadmap for future growth and development.
The New Comprehensive Plan, the Plan for Chesterfield 2035, will be produced by a cross departmental team of county staff, each bringing forward specific areas of expertise. The document will be reviewed by the Planning Commission who will make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors. The Board of Supervisors will then make the final decision on the New Plan.
During this process, the public will be given the opportunity to review and comment. Public participation is paramount to guiding the county’s future growth and development though 2035 to insure that the county remains a “First Choice Community” consistent with the county’s Strategic Plan’s goals and objectives.
